About Me

IMG_3445_edited.jpg

Growing up in Eastern Maine, I loved to visit the ocean and mountains, but it was the state’s lakes that were my playground. In the summer, I hopped from rock to rock, naming them as I went – Jumping Rock, Fishing Rock, Cow Rock, My Rock. In the winter, I skied across the snowy, iced-over lakes and composed epic stories in my head. Currently, I am a first-year student at the University of Maine, Orono where I am studying Environmental Science and Journalism. I am developing my writing, photography, and website-design skills to highlight the beauty of my state in all seasons – winter included. By celebrating what we have to protect, I hope to foster engagement in climate issues. My journey into this field began in high school with a short documentary about Rosalie Edge, who founded Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and has been called a “hellcat” for her feisty approach to conservation issues. Her work inspired me to tell environmental stories. In my free time I knit, ski, and swim.
