Steve "Shepsi" Eaton of Darthia Farm, Gouldsboro Maine, September 27, 2024. Darthia Farm is focused on farming in a sustainable way through methods including using horses to pull farming equipment, cutting the grass with sheep, and growing food organically. Eaton says he wants to listen to older farmers’ advice, but that in the changing climate, he realized, “that I need to be unassuming that there’s, like, some overarching wisdom about how it’s gonna be. And that I really need to be present, and I need to observe what’s going on.” (Photo/Kathryn Busko)

Christopher Brahan, President of the UMaine Bikepacking Collective, fixing bikes on the UMaine mall to raise money for the club, Orono Maine, October 3, 2024. Brahan charged a flat fee of $5 and saw nearly constant traffic after setting up at noon. Brahan first learned how to fix bikes during his sophomore year of high school after wrecking his bike. His skills have since grown. The most common problem he saw on Thursday was rust. He wishes more people knew that a bike that has been abused, as in a bike that has been ridden frequently and in questionable places, is much easier to fix than a bike that has been neglected. Orono voters gather at the Collins Center for the Arts on the University of Maine Campus on November 5th, 2024 to vote in this historic election. Races on the ballot included the presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, the State Senate race between Incumbent Mike Tipping and Republican Leo Kenney, and the U.S. Representative District 2 race between Incumbent Jared Golden and Republican Austin Theriault. Voters found the Collins Center voting process to be efficient and many first-time voters registered to vote at the site. Activist Ilze Petersons was out reminding people to vote and hoped they knew "that their vote can be a vote for love." Ryan Tipping, brother of Mike Tipping, greeted voters and was happy with the number of students who were exercising their right to vote for the first time.
